"Several wind damage reports were received and focused mainly along the I-95 corridor, including some measured wind gusts in the 60 to 70 mph range," the National Weather Service said.
Streets around the America's Best Value Inn near Route 35 in Neptune was fully evacuated with several surrounded streets closed due to downed poles, wires and extensive debris. The NWS is investigating whether the damage might have been caused by a small tornado.
Headliner and Simko's were also closed, with several vehicles damaged.
One minor injury was reported from a motor vehicle crash that occurred during the weather incident.
The following incidents were also reported across the area:
- A tree fell onto a house on Portland Avenue in Scotch Plain early in the evening.
- A downed utility pole in Mount Laurel took out a traffic signal on Church Street, which remained closed as of Monday morning.
- A car was struck by a tree on Mountain Avenue.
- The roof of a commercial building on New York Avenue in Trenton was ripped off by high winds, with solar panels and roofing panels strewn across the roadway, MidJerseyNews reports.
- A tree fell in Abington, PA, cutting down power to dozens in the area, 6abc reports.
- A tree struck a car on Charles Street in Linden.
- Sicklerville Road between Erial Road and Andrews Road in West Winslow was closed due to several poles that were damaged and blown over from the storm.
